Long staple cotton / hemp yarn 8/3ne

£23.00 £20.70

50% heavier than our beloved 8/2ne long staple cotton/hemp blend, this 8/3ne long staple cotton / hemp yarn has the same soft earthiness, with a bit more bulk. Whether for warp or weft, fine heirloom pieces or workhorse homewears, this is a beautiful natural yarn.

Hemp, being a bast fibre, can take a breaking-in period while the long stem fibres of the hemp plant soften and bend, creating a buttery-soft cloth with drape and mouldability. Or, you can keep it crisp and like new if it’s for pieces that aren’t intend to be worn. No matter what you choose, this yarn dyes well and wears well.

This can be dyed with procion fibre reactive dyes. Being a natural yarn, I recommend giving it a very good scour in hot water with unscented basic dish soap. I use boiling water from the kettle, with a few drops of soak, give it a good swish and really let it soak all the natural grime off. Some boil it with a few drops of soap and that isn’t my personal preference but it can work very well. When it’s soaked, give it a good rinse and move onto your soda ash bath. Like anything, I always recommend you sample well beforehand to make sure that it works for what you want to use it for.

Cones are 475g, yarn is 8/2ne.
